Farewell To A Unique UK Comics Artistic Voice

The very sad news reached us that British comic artist Dave Taylor, whose CV included working on 2000AD and for DC on Batman original graphic novels and Batman comics, has just died at the age of 61 of prostate cancer…

Taylor was a comic artist with several decades drawing for 2000AD , DC and Dark Horse. He made his debut working for Marvel UK in the 1990s. He drew Tongue Lash with French writer Jean-Marc L’Officier which was published by Dark Horse in 1996. He also drew a run on DC’s Batman: Shadow Of The Bat with writer Alan Grant from 1996 to 1997. He collaborated with Matt Wagner on Batman: The Riddle Factory in 1995 and with Chip Kidd on original Batman graphic novel Death By Design in 2012.

He drew a number of Judge Dredd strips for 2000AD and the Judge Dredd Megazine between 2004 and 2009.

We interviewed him for the book Studio Space in 2008.

He was a very talented artist and a top bloke and he will be missed. Tripwire sends our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
