Michael Klick Dies: Emmy-Winning Producer From ‘Homeland’ & ‘24′ Was 77
He was not on the list.
Michael Klick,an Emmy-winning producer on Homeland and 24, died August 10 at his home in Los Angeles. He was 77.
His death was announced on Facebook by his daughter, Caitlin Hoey-Klick.
“My dad, Michael Klick, passed peacefully in his sleep,” she wrote. “So many people knew him as Klick, or Mike or Michael, but my favorite title of his was Caitlin’s dad. He was my world. My mom and I are in utter shock.”
Klick won his first Emmy in 2006 for serving as a producer on 24. That was the year the Fox series won Outstanding Drama. In 2012, he won his second Emmy as an executive producer for Homeland, which was named the top drama that year.
Klick got his start in TV as an assistant director on ABC Afterschool Specials and the series Our House, before earning producer titles on The Pretender, The X-Files, Prison Break, 24, Taken and Homeland. He most recently served as an EP on the HBO Max limited series Love & Death and the Netflix series Pulse.
“He cared about everyone who he came across,” his daughter wrote on Facebook. “He made long lasting relationships with his co-workers, who he cared deeply for, and anyone who crossed his path. His work in the film industry meant so much to him. He truly loved what he did.”
Away from work, Klick liked to ride his bike, work on his house in Cambria, take yoga, and go on adventures with his daughter.
Klick’s survivor are Janet Hoey-Klick, his wife of 42 years; and his daughter. The family says people “from all over the world” have contacted them to express their condolences.
“My mom and I want to say thank you,” said Caitlin Hoey-Klick.
