Junkyard Singer David Roach Passes Away After Courageous Battle With Cancer

He was not on the list.

Sleaze Roxx is sad to report the passing of Junkyard‘s long-time frontman David Roach who lost his battle with cancer. Condolences go out to Roach‘s family including his wife Jennifer Michael-Roach (whom he had recently married on July 19, 2025) and his Junkyard bandmates — drummer Patrick Muzingo, bassist Todd Muscat, and guitarists Tim Mosher and Jimmy James.

Back in early February 2025, it was announced that Roach was battling an aggressive form of cancer. It was later revealed that Roach was fighting a very aggressive form of squamous cell carcinoma throughout his head, neck and throat.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Roach.

After a courageous battle with cancer, David passed away peacefully last night at home, in the loving arms of his wife.

He was a gifted artist, performer, songwriter, and singer—but above all, a devoted father, husband, and brother.

Our thoughts are with the entire Roach family and everyone who loved him.

Many tributes to Roach have started appearing on social media.

Patrick Muzingo, Junkyard drummer — “I’ve done time with this guy since 1987 and have always had the best seat in the house. Gonna miss ya ♠️💔

Tim Mosher, Junkyard guitarist — ““Goodbye old friend seems we’ve met an inconvenient end” – David Roach“

Acetate Records — “We are devastated to hear of the passing of David Roach. A true Hollywood icon. Legendary songwriter, singer, father and friend. It was an honor to work with Dave and Junkyard when they found a home with Acetate. Our deepest condolences to his wife, son, bandmates and all who loved him. ♠️💔🎲 @junkyardhollywood”

Roach was asked in an interview with Mark Diggins for The Rockpit back in February 2019 what made him realize that music was going to be his life, to which he replied (with slight edits):

“I don’t know. Ever since I was a little kid I fantasized about being a singer in a rock band. I always used to sing a lot. I’d go to goodwill and buy Elvis Presley 45’s, and then I got into The Beatles and The Stones and all that shit, Zeppelin and other bands progressively over the years, like a chronological lesson in music, and I loved all of it. When I first started my band, I was 14 or 15 and all my buddies were skateboarding and I couldn’t skateboard and they were getting all the chicks and I didn’t have no game so I had to find some way to get mine so I started singing. I just think that sometimes you just know what you want to do and luckily enough I was able to do it. I mean not successfully (laughs). It’s had its bumps! And there’s been a lot of down years in between but, you know but having this resurgence at this point in my life is epic, the timing is perfect. I intend to go out with a bang now you know. I didn’t burn out along the way, at least not on stage!”
