Hyperpop star wifiskeleton dies age 21 after suicidal statement and haunting final livestream
Wifiskeleton was reported dead by close friends with the circumstances surrounding his death still largely unknown, except for fan reports and claims.
He was not on the list.
Musician wifiskeleton, also known as Jeremiah, was reported dead by close friends in his record label's
Discord server, a popular web messaging app.
The Atlanta-based internet alleged star's death was revealed by Witchbox, who wrote in the gothangelz server, “This is serious, pls don’t be disrespectful. @everyone me and a few others were informed this morning skel died, he was found already cold when the cops and medics arrived. This is not a joke, I’m so sorry everyone.”
Yuke and Moon, other close friends of wifiskeleton, also confirmed the news. However, they did not directly reveal his cause of death. Instead, individuals online were quick to speculate about potential suicide, recalling his final livestream.
Wifiskeleton was upfront about his suicide plans the night before. He said on an Instagram livestream, "Pull up and kill me it's the time to do it. If you want to get a flick with me it's the time to do it. I'm going to overdose tonight and kill myself," according to a video obtained by The Mirror.
Following the livestream, his Instagram account remained dormant. Fans and loved ones flooded his final post, a photo of him with a horse in promotion of his latest track, with messages of grief.
One friend, imsg, wrote, "i love you so much i remember we would call and we’d plot on how youd blow up when you only had a couple thousand monthly. ima miss you so much man coming to you with my problems and you giving me advice changed my perception on life. fuck man my tears are getting on my phone screen i cant believe your actually gone i f***g love you so much."
Another friend, Johnny Montilla, said, "Skel, I love you so much. We literally just spoke… and now you’re gone. I couldn’t shake the feeling after seeing the note you left… I hoped it didn’t mean what I feared. I remember when you followed me, back when you only had a couple thousand monthly listeners. Something about you pulled me in immediately."
They continued: "I followed you back and DM’d you a few words of encouragement after seeing your extraordinary potential, and you did the same for me. Watching you grow was a gift. Your story was still being written, and we were all waiting to see where it would lead. You had so much life left to live and so much more to give... You were only just getting started. It hurts knowing how many lies were spoken on your name and how many people misunderstood you... But those of us who knew your heart? We saw the real you. You were a star, and you still are. I’ll carry your light with me, always."
Wifiskeleton began making music under the name fuxkcy before adopting name *67 and, eventually, settling into his known moniker. His fame climaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic when hyperpop veered out of the alternative shadow and began gaining mainstream traction.
His music was distinct with lo-fi beats, heavy distortion, and introspective lyrics. He reflected on themes like depression and existentialism. Specifically, Wifiskeleton's music falls into a sigilkore subgenre, embracing experimentalism.
The Mirror was unable to contact a representative for Wifiskeleton for confirmation.
