Minnesota Mourns the Loss of Pat O’Connor

Minnesota boxing has lost one of its most naturally gifted boxers on May 23, 2025. Pat O’Connor, a Rochester native and former national Golden Gloves champion, passed away this at the age of 74.

Known for his smooth footwork, sharp combinations, and natural ring instincts, O’Connor compiled an impressive professional record of 41 wins, 6 losses, and 19 knockouts over the course of his career. His blend of grace and grit made him one of the most electrifying boxers to ever emerge from Minnesota.

O’Connor’s journey began at a young age, and by 16 he had already claimed national attention. Those who saw him in his prime often believed he had the tools to become a world champion. Though he walked away from the sport earlier than many expected, his boxing skills are still talked about today.
