Sherry Bryce obit

Shirli "Sherry Bryce" Bruce

May 28, 1946 - May 26, 2025

She was not on the list.

Shirli “Sherry” Bruce, age 78, of Muscle Shoals, made her journey home on Monday, May 26, 2025. She had been yearning for this journey and leaves behind many memories.

Sherry had a wonderful musical career. She was a professional singer and songwriter, and her stage name was Sherry Bryce. She began her musical career at WWWR radio station which led to her owning several radio stations. She performed for years with Mel Tillis where she was known for the #1 duets they sang together. She also worked with performers such as Hank Williams, Jr., and Barbara Mandrell and her pictures were often found in the magazines of country artists. It’s unbelievable that this Phil Campbell, AL girl from such humble beginnings, would lead into her life being such an incredible adventure. She was so humbled when the town of Phil Campbell named a street after her and her success, “Sherry Bryce Road”.

Sherry was a beautiful woman of many talents. She was a self-published author, an award-winning cook, was a wonderful photographer, and talented at painting. She was an avid animal lover and loved watching the birds and working in her flowers. More than anything she loved her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Bruce; parents, Calvin & Tressie (Weeks) Cooper; and brother, Donny Cooper.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her sons, Robbie Swinney, Mark McNatt (Nina); granddaughter, Kassie Franks (Jesse); great-grandchildren, Jaston Franks, Emmett Franks; brother, Jerry Cooper (Molly); sister-in-law, Sheila Cooper; nieces, Crystal Locklar, Shannon Alred, Andrea James; and a host of friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Phil Campbell.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of Enhabit Hospice, as well as the staff of My Brother’s Keepers Sitting Service for your love and care of our mom and grandmother.
