Benjamin Satterley, Professional Wrestler Known as Pac, Dies at 40

All Elite Wrestling announced Satterley’s death on Sunday, Sept. 27, the day after the U.K. wrestler took part in a pay-per-view event just outside Chicago

Benjamin Satterley, the professional wrestler also known as Pac, has died, All Elite Wrestling announced on Sunday, Sept. 27. He was 40.

The British wrestler had fought during AEW’s “All Out” pay-per-view event at the NOW Arena in Illinois, just outside Chicago, the day before. A cause of death was not immediately disclosed.

“A native of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Satterley began his wrestling career in 2004 and went on to perform for wrestling organizations all over the world, captivating fans with innovative high-flying moves and incredible in-ring ability,” AEW wrote in a statement on X.

“Pac signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2019, held multiple AEW Championships and competed in some of the most memorable matches in AEW history,” the statement continued. “Our condolences go out to Satterley’s family, friends and fans.”

Satterley, who was born on Aug. 22, 1986, had also been a member of World Wrestling Entertainment, New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre in Mexico, per the BBC.

The wrestler decided he could make professional wrestling his career in his early 20s, after he saw the crowd’s reaction at one of his matches with the Los Angeles-based promotion Pro Wrestling Guerrilla.

He told fellow wrestler Colt Cabana on his Art of Wrestling podcast in 2014 that he was working night shifts at a courier factory at the time. “I look back on it very fondly, but it was a tough time in my life,” he recalled.

Throughout his career, he had a number of personas, including Pac and Adrian Neville, and was often called “The Man that Gravity Forgot” due to a signature move that saw him spin 360 degrees from the top rope of the wrestling ring onto his opponent.

In a tribute shared on X, AEW president Tony Khan said Satterley “defined excellence” in his “wrestling knowledge, skill, unprecedented athleticism, professionalism, consistency and dedication to the sport that he loved and traveled the world to pursue.”

Fellow British wrestler Will Ospreay, the current AEW World Champion, described him as the “greatest export” from the United Kingdom and the “greatest human being” in his own X post, sharing a photo of the pair together.

Ace Austin, whom Pac defeated on an episode of AEW’s Collision on Wednesday, Sept. 23, wrote, simply, “I don’t understand man,” on X.

Satterley is survived by his wife, Natalie Satterley.
