Julio Medina obit

Julio Medina, actor and legend of Colombian television, has died

Among the productions she worked on were “Sin senos no hay paraíso” and “Amor en custodia”.

He was not on the list.

Renowned actor Julio Medina , who acted in several productions and is considered one of the legends of Colombian television, died at the age of 91 in Bogotá .

The actor worked in the soap operas “Sin senos no hay paraíso” and “Amor en custodia” and was the star of “En cuerpo ajeno” alongside Amparo Grisales. He was even one of the first Colombians to act in Hollywood.

Julio Medina was born on January 16 in Chiquinquirá. During his teenage years, he worked at Radio Nacional making programs for children and at Radio Reloj.

Afterwards, he went to live in the United States and had to work doing various things until he was able to start his artistic career.

“In Los Angeles, California, she acted in numerous television films alongside famous stars such as the late actor Telly Savalas in Kojak,” this newspaper reported in 1996.

“Later, inclined towards theater, he toured Mexico and Peru. He returned to Colombia 25 years after his departure, successfully breaking into national television. Among his artistic roles are those in the soap operas 'En Cuerpo Ajeno', 'Aguas Mansas', 'Flor de Oro' and 'Dulce Ave Negra',” reported EL TIEMPO.

In 2016 he decided to retire from the world of acting, but he remained in the hearts of thousands of Colombians, who saw him on their screens.

The cause of death is unknown as there was no known health problems.

Following the unfortunate news, Colombian actors have said goodbye and left emotional messages on their social networks.

In fact, Julio Cesar Herrera wrote on his X account: “We have lost a friend, a great actor, a wonderful person. Apart from being an actor, a wonderful photographer. He always greeted me with a 'hello, namesake'. An example, a true example of an actor.”

He added: “Thanks to life for giving me the opportunity to have shared with him. Don Julio Medina.”

He was joined by actor Johan Velandia, who has appeared in soap operas such as “La ley del corazón,” who “celebrated his life and death.”

“Today I celebrate my life and your death, beloved Julito! You did it and that makes me happy! I made a video Danza con Julito Medina in 2011 about loneliness, old age, homosexuality and heartbreak! Thank you, you are ONLY Julito! Cheers.”
