Marilyn Welch Obituary
She was not on the list.
July 25, 1931 - June 10, 2014 Marilyn "Mitzie" Welch passed away Tuesday morning, June 10, at her home in Encino. She was born July 25, 1931 in McDonald, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Julia and Howard Cottle. She began her career in music, singing with the Benny Goodman orchestra. In 1970, she and her husband, Ken, moved to Los Angeles, where they worked as a team, composing music for The Carol Burnett Show for seven seasons. They went on to write and produce material for Barbra Streisand, Barry Manilow, Bob Hope, Linda Lavin and Hal Linden, among others. Mitzie is an eight time Emmy Award winner. She wrote the CBS-TV movie "Life of the Party," the true story of the woman who founded the first recovery house for women in the U.S., which won for her a Women in Film Award, the Film Advisory Board Award and a Christopher Award. Surviving her are her two daughters, Gillian and Julie, and her husband, Ken. If you wish to make a donation in her name, you may contribute to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Services will be held Friday, July 25 at 3pm at Screening Room 5 at Warner Bros. in Burbank.
