Guy Moon Dies: Emmy-Nominated ‘Fairly OddParents’ Composer Was 63

He was not on the list.

Guy Moon, the four-time Emmy-nominated composer behind Nickelodeon’s popular animated series The Fairly OddParents, has died at the age of 63.

Per his family and a Los Angeles County Medical Examiner report, Moon was killed Thursday morning in an accidental traffic collision and succumbed to traumatic injuries.

“We are overcome with grief to announce the passing of our beloved patriarch, Guy Moon,” the family said in a statement on Facebook. “We feel singularly blessed to have been able to call him dad and husband. As we stand together at the base of what seems to be an insurmountable grief, we are emboldened to grieve him with honor and courage with the tools that he equipped us with in his beautiful life. He has left an unmistakable legacy, and will be profoundly missed by us, his family, and countless others whose lives he impacted.”

The Annie Award-winning music writer also served as the composer on two more Butch Hartman-created series, Danny Phantom (writing the music for its earworm theme) and T.U.F.F. Puppy. In addition to those projects, he served as a music writer for Big Time Rush, Netflix’s Johnny Test reboot, Back at the Barnyard, Cow and Chicken and The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy.

Outside of series and animation, Moon composed scores for films like 2017’s The Crash (starring John Leguizamo, Minnie Driver and AnnaSophia Robb), The Brady Bunch Movie, A Very Brady Sequel and the three live-action Fairly OddParents movies (starring Drake Bell and Danielle Monet). He also contributed to soundtracks for movies like Minority Report, Fight Club and Mystic Pizza.

Moon’s family noted a celebration of his life is being tentatively planned on his birthday, Feb. 7, in the Los Angeles area, and another sometime after in his hometown in Wisconsin.
