Jordanians bid farewell to former Prime Minister Ali Abu al-Ragheb

 He was not on the list.


A large crowd of Jordanians took part in the funeral of former Prime Minister Ali Abu Al-Ragheb, among them Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi, Senate President Faisal Al-Fayez, along with a number of current and former officials.

An official funeral procession was held for the deceased after Dhuhr prayer at the Prophet Joshua Mosque in the city of Salt, proceeding to his final resting place in the family cemetery at the Prophet Joshua Shrine.

Abu Al-Ragheb served as Prime Minister between 2000 and 2003, during which he formed three successive Jordanian governments, in addition to holding several other senior posts throughout his career.

He was born in Amman in 1946 and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 1967 from the University of Tennessee in the United States.

He served as the 33rd Prime Minister of Jordan from 19 June 2000 until 25 October 2003. He resigned and was replaced by Faisal al-Fayez.
