Jeffrey Starr, age 61 of Anna, passed away Friday, July 25, 2025 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. He was born February 20, 1964 in Cape Girardeau, MO the son of John “Jack” and Janet Sue (Carter) Starr. He married Linda Webb on June 27, 1981 at the Elco Baptist Church.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Linda Starr of Anna; two sons, Brandon (April) Starr and Jacob (Amanda) Starr, both of Anna; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kaleb (Erin), Kiley, Daultan, Hailey, Gavin, Caleb, Samantha, and Madison; great-grandchildren, Jessie James, Braeleigh, Nova, and baby Isabella Rose on the way; mother, Janet Sue Starr; brothers, Kevin (Michele) Starr of Anna and Ceasar Treece of Dongola; sister, Dorinda Treece of Anna; sisters-in-law, Ruth (Jerry) Richardson of Anna and Sherry Stoner of Jonesboro; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John “Jack” Starr; brothers, Richard and Ron Chapman, and sister-in-law, Donna Webb.
Jeff was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church, where he began serving as a deacon in 2010. He loved going to church and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Jeff was well-known for his acting debut playing the little league catcher in the 1976 film The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training, as well as his appearance in the 1978 film The Bad News Bears Go to Japan. Jeff was a proud member of the Screen Actors Guild and a longtime member of the Moose Lodge #1346 in Anna. He spent many years running the G & W Motors car lot in Cobden and Starr Auto in Anna. He was formerly a member of the Laborers’ International Union Local 227 chapter. He loved to build model cars and watch Gunsmoke. He will be dearly missed.
Funeral
services will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at the Rendleman and
Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Bro. Bobby Richardson officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the service hour of 7:00 p.m. at
the funeral home in Jonesboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be
made to Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
