The much-loved children's cartoon writer Brian Trueman has died at the age of 92.
Tributes have started to pour in for the "absolute
gentleman" who played an iconic role in creating characters such as Danger
Mouse, Count Duckula, and The Wind In The Willows.
His devoted son Ben paid a heartfelt tribute to his father, stating: "He was clever, funny, resilient, an absolute gentleman, loving and loved. We will all miss him so much."
Ben announced his father's passing, noting that he had
enjoyed "92 years of happy life". Trueman was also recognised for
being the voice behind many of his characters.
Tributes have begun to flood in on social media for the much-loved personality. One user wrote: "Godspeed Brian Trueman, a true talent in TV & radio who'll be fondly remembered."
Another added: "He's the greatest, he's fantastic. Very sad news about Brian Trueman, whose CV and legacy is essentially making millions of us happy."
Trueman was primarily known for his work with the British animation studio, Cosgrove Hall, which pumped out hit works including Noddy and Jamie and the Magic Torch.
According to his IMDb page, Trueman was credited for 79
episodes of the original Danger Mouse series, as well as four from the 2015
remake which starred Alexander Armstrong and Stephen Fry.
The late writer was also credited for 11 episodes of the
legendary cartoon Count Duckula, which followed the adventures of a vegetarian
vampire obsessed with fame and wealth. Trueman also recieved 47 voice acting
credits for the show over its 65 episodes, playing many background characters.
He was also the writer and narrator of Cockleshell Bay, the
iconic stop-motion TV show that ran on ITV at lunchtime from 1980 to 1986.
He is credited for work on Wallace and Gromit, both on the silver and small screens. According to IMDb, he was a writer on Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers, as well as at least one episode of the Aardman show.
Before his time as a writer, he worked as a newsreader and
presenter at Granada Television, joining in 1957.
