Pierre-William Glenn, director of photography for the greats of French cinema, has died.
An assistant to William Lubtchansky in his early days, the cinematographer worked with directors as diverse as François Truffaut, André Téchiné, Maurice Pialat, and Claude Lelouch. He died on September 24, at the age of 80.
He was not on the list.
Pierre-William Glenn was born on October 31, 1943 in Paris, France. He was a cinematographer and director, known for Extérieur, nuit (1980), Death Watch (1980) and 23h58 (1993). He was married to Ida Glenn. He died on September 23, 2024 in Nogent-sur-Marne, Val-de-Marne, France.

the 13th to May 17, 2019in the show "à voix nue".
In 2017 he was made a Knight of Arts and Letters , Knight of
the National Order of Merit and Knight of the Legion of Honor .
Pierre-William Glenn was a French cinematographer and
director.
A prolific and innovative cinematographer, he was the first
to use Fuji film , and was renowned for his work with the steadicam.
After studying mathematics , Pierre-William Glenn joined
IDHEC .
Trained by Alain Derobe , he became the assistant of William
Lubtchansky and Jean Gonnet . He worked also for television while also signing
the photography of several short films.
Influenced by the work of American cinematographers, in
particular Gregg Toland , Lee Garmes and Stanley Cortez, he led a fruitful
collaboration with French directors inspired by American cinema and in
particular film noir, such as Bertrand Tavernier, Alain Corneau, Costa-Gavras,
José Giovanni and Guillaume Nicloux .
In 1974, Pierre-William Glenn made his own film, The Iron
Horse, about the world of motorcycles, which was quite well received by
critics. He then worked as a cameraman for Joseph Losey ( Mr. Klein , 1975),
and The Roads of the South, 1977).
Pierre-William Glenn chaired the French Association of
Cinematographers (AFC) from 1997 to 2000.Director
