Louise Collins, Remembered
She was not on the list.
Louise Collins was born on November 16, 1932 in Wabash, Indiana, USA. She was an actress, known for The Third Man (1959), Danger Man (1960) and The Saint (1962). She died on August 19, 2021.
I was truly saddened to hear of the death of Louise Collins,
age 87, on August 18. She was a true character that greatly impressed this
22-year-old when I first met her with her new husband, racing driver Peter
Collins, in September 1957.
By a strange coincidence I had actually seen a photograph of “ …actress Louise King” that had been published in Sports Illustrated magazine earlier that year where, in their report of the Sebring race, they had snapped a photo of this fair-haired actress sitting beside one of the cars. I was impressed!
This American actress enjoyed a brief period of popularity
on British television in the late 1950s and early 1960s, appearing regularly as
a panelist on "What's My Line?" and acting in several series. She
married the British racing driver Peter Collins, who was killed on the track in
1958, only one year after their wedding.
In due course, Louis Collins married Gordon Burwash, a Canadian film producer and screenwriter with whom she lived in Sarasota, Florida. He died in 1980.
