'24' actress Alberta Watson dies at 60
She was not on the list.
Canadian-born actress Alberta Watson died Saturday at age 60. The actress, who was best known for her roles on "24" and "Nikita," died in the arms of her husband after battling cancer, her talent agency confirmed.
"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the luminous Alberta Watson," the Gary Goddard Agency said in a statement. "Alberta died in the arms of her beloved Ken on Saturday March 21st at Kensington Hospice after a long and incredibly courageous battle with cancer."
Watson became best known for her role as Madeline Pierce in the TV adaptation of "La Femme Nikita" and later reprised the role in the CW's recent "Nikita" reboot.
She also played Director of CTU Los Angeles Erin Driscoll in the fourth season of "24."
Watson began her acting career in local theater as a teen and scored her breakthrough role in the 1978 film "In Praise of Older Women" for which she received a Genie Award.
Watson was born in Toronto, Ontario, in 1955. She grew up in Toronto with her mother Grace, a factory worker, and her brother. She began performing with a local Toronto theatre group, T.H.O.G. (Theatre House of God), of the Bathurst Street United Church, at age 15.
Watson took a workshop for the Hair musical. While at the workshop she acted in Hamlet, which was directed by René Bonnière, who later directed her in La Femme Nikita
