British character actor Gordon Faith, 94, died on April 3. From the 1950s-80s, he was seen frequently on the big and small screens, in such vehicles as Crossroads, St. Ives, Dr. Who, Dr. Finlay’s Casebook, Z Cars, and Last of the Summer Wine. He also worked on radio, and many stage plays, including Bye Bye Birdie, Irma La Douce, The Bar Mitzvah Boy, and 78 Revolutions. Faith supported himself between acting gigs by working as a speech and vocal coach.
Faith was born on March 14, 1931 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, UK. He is an actor, known for Doctor Who (1963), The Theban Plays by Sophocles (1986) and War & Peace (1972).
He taught speech and radio technique at the Guildford School
of Acting, the winner of the Carleton Hobbs Radio Award.
Gordon studied speech under Cicely Berry, voice coach for
the Royal Shakespeare Company.
He had a vocal coaching business.
