Jamie McMann, the renowned record producer who was known for working with legendary punk bands such as NOFX, Swingin’ Utters, and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, has died at 48. McMann died on April 24, 2025, and the news was confirmed by Fat Mike on Instagram. In his In Memoriam post he wrote, “Very sad day…Jamie McMann died way too young….For those of you who don’t know him. He was the engineer at Motor Studios for 7 years. He was the guy I spent 12 hours a day with making some of the best music of my career. Too many all nighters? No such thing when you’re making music that matters….Look him up on Wikipedia. Please….He made so many amazing records!!!! Jamie, thank you for everything….You will not be forgotten!”

hroughout his career, McMann had also worked with labels such as Epitaph and Pirate Press. In recent years, McMann relocated from San Fransisco to Los Angeles and worked on producing projects for a variety of artists and labels.

A cause of death has not yet been revealed.

McMann produced recordings spanning multiple genres of music professionally since 2002 when he began working at San Francisco's historic Hyde Street Studios. After a four-year run with Hyde Street Studios, McMann moved on to produce a significant body of work out of Motor Studios, San Francisco, (owned by Fat Mike, bassist and frontman of the punk rock band NOFX). Utilizing a 64 channel SSL4000E (analog audio console), McMann shaped numerous productions that were released on Fat Mike's record label, Fat Wreck Chords. McMann had relocated to Los Angeles not long before his death, where he continued producing records for various artists and record labels.
