Márta Peterdy, the reigning champion of Hungarian tennis, died at the age of 101, the sports association reported on the obituary.
The Hungarian tennis community is in mourning, as the perennial champion of the sport, Márta Peterdy, died at the age of 101. Peterdy became Hungarian individual champion in 1943, 1951, 1952 and 1956, and collected 23 championship golds in total.
Born on February 21, 1923, the reigning champion celebrated her 100th birthday last year in Normandy, northern France, where she lived until her death. She moved abroad with her husband and two children in 1956. In addition to domestic success, his greatest tennis experience was in Paris, France, and he talked about it in an interview with the Hungarian Tennis Association on his 100th birthday.

Márta Popp was born in Budapest on 21 February 1923. A four-time national singles champion, she also competed at national championship level as a figure skater early in her sporting career. Following the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 she lived in exile in the French capital Paris and was considered stateless.
