Actor Per Myrberg is dead

he popular artist and actor Per Myrberg has died, the Royal Dramatic Theatre told TT. He was 90 years old.

The versatile performer and actor has a long career on stage and as a performer. His most famous song was "34:an", which was on Svensktoppen from 1964 to 1965.

He passed away on Thursday afternoon, December 28, after a period of illness, says the Royal Dramatic Theatre's press officer Lena Törner to TT.

Per Myrberg suffered a stroke in 2020 and had been living in a nursing home for some time.

"He left us peacefully and the family was gathered and close to him. It is extremely sad and surreal, but he had a calm and rich life," says Per Myrberg's wife Sara in a statement via the Royal Dramatic Theatre.

Per Myrberg performed a total of 92 roles at the Royal Dramatic Theatre between 1956 and 2013, but was also known for his performances on television and film. He made his debut for director Göran Gentele in 1957 in the role of Erik in "Värmlänningarna".

On television, he appeared in "Hedebyborna" in 1978. And in later years, he could be seen in the TV series "Saltön" and "Gynekologen i Askim".

As an artist, he is forever associated with "34:an", the song that described the "demolition rage" around Sweden in the 1960s, with lyrics by Olle Adolphson.


The song was on the Swedish charts for 39 weeks between 1964 and 1965.

Born in Stockholm, Myrberg appeared in many films since 1957 including The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. He also was a singer, having succes at Svensktoppen.
