Dorothy Duder obit

Dorothy Duder Has Died

She was not on the list.

Dorothy Duder (9 July 1952 – 1 July 2022; age 69) was the Food Stylist for the entire four-year run of Star Trek: Enterprise. It was the first time in Trek history that a Food Stylist was permanently on crew preparing food for camera. Her creations included all meals served in the mess hall and at the captain's table, retro-Trek food, and alien banquets.

Duder's husband was Star Trek veteran and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine scenic artist Doug Drexler. Drexler listed Duder in one of the okudagram displays that depicted Dominion War causalities in DS9 Season 7, Dorothy R. Duder. The Duderstadt-class, co-designed by her husband, was named in her honor.

Duder started her career as an extra in film and television such as in the drama The Right Stuff (1983, with David Clennon and Darryl Henriques) and went on to production accountant and producer. She worked as an associate producer on the comedy crime series The Sandra West Diaries (2016-2017). In 1997 she worked as wardrobe accountant on the sitcom Cybill and also appeared as an extra in the gym in the episode "Some Like It Hot". The episode also features Jeanne Mori. She made another appearances as seamstress to Christine Baranski in the penultimate episode of the series, "Cybill in the Morning" (1998, with Charles Rocket).

On 1 July 2022, Duder lost her battle with cancer at the age of 69.  A grief-stricken Drexler, who himself had only a month earlier been treated for a similar disease, extensively celebrated his late wife's life and career for over two months on his Facebook page.
