Marino Masé, Italian Actor, has died

Masé was born in Trieste on 21 March 1939. While still a teenager, he joined the laboratory for young actors of the production company Vides by Franco Cristaldi and studied acting under Alessandro Fersen. He made his stage debut in 1960 in L'arialda, directed by Luchino Visconti, and his film debut in the 1961 adventure Romulus and the Sabines by Richard Pottier. He had several leading roles in the first half of the 1960s, including Marco Bellocchio's Fists in the Pocket and Jean-Luc Godard's Les Carabiniers, then he was mainly cast in supporting roles. Masé was also active in the adaptation of the dialogues for dubbing.

Masé was born on March 21, 1939 in Trieste, Italy. Like many young actors, he started his career on stage before making his film debut opposite Roger Moore in the 1960 adventure-comedy Romulus and the Sabines (1961). His early film roles saw him working with many prominent European filmmakers of the time, including Luchino Visconti, Jean-Luc Godard, Dino Risi, Liliana Cavani, and Marco Bellocchio. In the 1970s, he became one of the many prolific supporting players of genre films, particularly ''poliziotteschi'' crime thrillers. He has also appeared in several international productions filmed in Italy, including King David (1985), The Belly of an Architect (1987), and The Godfather: Part III (1990).

He is most known to Western audiences for his roles in The Leopard and The Godfather Part III, where he portrays Giorgio Lupo.

Masé died in Rome on 28 May 2022, at the age of 83
