‘Mr. Disneyland’, Ron Dominguez’s Death Cause is Still Private

 

He was not on the list.


Former executive vice president of Walt Disney Attractions, ‘Mr. Disneyland’ Ron Dominguez’s death cause is not revealed yet after he died January 1, 2021, at 85. RIP.

Although his cause of death wasn’t revealed in a Facebook post by the Disneyland Alumni., the guy’s rich history with the Mouse House was, and his roots stem back to where the park actually broke ground.

Dominguez was known as a “native Disneylander,” and his family owned and lived on the 10-acre Anaheim property that was purchased by Walt Disney in 1954 to build Disneyland.

Born August 10, 1935, Dominguez grew up on the property that would become Disneyland, and his family home was moved to the park to serve as administrative offices. He became a ticket taker in the initial hires for the theme park.

In 1957, Dominguez became the assistant supervisor of Frontierland, moving up to the manager of Tomorrowland in 1962. He became the manager of the west side of Disneyland and in 1974, was named vice president of Disneyland and chairman of the park operating committee.

In 1990, Dominguez became Executive Vice President Walt Disney Attractions, West Coast.

Dominguez who people remember as “Mr. Disneyland,” was a prime mover in creating the Disney California Adventure theme park. He later retired from The Walt Disney Company in 1994 after 39 years.

He was named a Disney Legend in 2000.

Dominguez is survived by his wife, Betty. He and Betty were married for about 41 years. The Disneyland Alumni Club announced a small family gathering is expected because of COVID retrictions.

Reactions to Ron Dominguez’s Death

Scott Flair, who was one of the first to learn of Dominguez’s death on Friday, announced having “a window is a huge honor”.

“It was very sad to see him so weak, especially because he was so vibrant,” Fliner recalls about Ron.

The Facebook post by the Disneyland Alumni wrote: “Some sad news to start the new year. The Disneyland Alumni Club has learned that Ron Dominguez, to many known as “Mr. Disneyland, and a former executive Vice President of Disneyland, and a Disney Legend, passed away early today, January 1, 2021. He was 85.”
