Bond girl Nadja Regin dead: Goldfinger actress dies aged 87
She was not on the list.
Bond girl Nadja Regin has died at the age of 87.
The Serbian born actress starred in two James Bond films during her career From Russia with Love and Goldfinger.
"We are very sorry to learn that Nadja Regin has passed away at the age of 87. Nadja appeared in two Bond films, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE and GOLDFINGER. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time."
Nadja also appeared in in several British TV programmes in the 1960s, including The Avengers, Danger Man and The Saint.
But she was best known for her role as the mistress of Kerim Bey in From Russia with Love, 1963.
Nadja also appeared as belly dancer Bonita in 1964's Goldfinger opposite Sean Connery. In the pre-title sequence, Nadja seduces Bond while sitting in the bath before double-crossing him.
Nadja previously revealed that she'd been initially reluctant to take a role in the British spy films.
"To be honest, in the beginning I was very embarrassed, because they were such tiny little roles.
"But once The Queen had a tiny role as a Bond girl [in Danny Boyle’s 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony], I thought, well, if it’s good enough for Her Majesty I shouldn’t be so embarrassed!"
Movie bosses paid tribute to Nadja with a statement on Twitter on Monday morning.
In the 1980s Nadja gave up acting altogether and embarked on a career in publishing and started her own company with her sister, specialising in philosophy of history and biography.
She later worked on her own novel, The Victims and the Fools, published under her full name Nadja Poderegin.
Some of her other movie roles include The Magic Sword and The Man without a Body.
Her TV roles included Danger Man, The Saint and Dixon of Dock Green. She also rehearsed for the episode "Girl on the Trapeze" of the TV series The Avengers, but ultimately the role on the recording went to actress Mia Karam
