Actor Gerry Becker Has Died
He was not on the list.
Gerry Becker was an integral part of the Chicago Theatre scene throughout the 1980s and '90s, especially known for his work with the Court, Steppenwolf and Remains Theatre companies. He moved to Chicago in 1979 from his hometown of St. Louis and studied with Kyle Donnelly when his career took off in all directions, working in commercials and industrials as well as on stage. Some of Gerry's most notable Chicago performances were in productions of Born Yesterday, Ring Around the Moon, Once in Doubt, and Laughter in the Dark. When he traveled to New York with Steppenwolf's The Song of Jacob Zulu, he decided to stay, working off-Broadway and earning rave reviews in Death Defying Acts, an evening of three one-act dark comedies by master playwrights David Mamet, Elaine May and Woody Allen, and co-starring Linda Lavin and Deborah Monk. Gerry eventually moved on to Los Angeles where he enjoyed a successful career in film and television, where his numerous credits include Spider-Man, Man On the Moon, Law & Order and Medium.
Gerry passed away in Nyack, NY with complications from Diabetes and is survived by his children.
