~
Canadian actor Ken James died this week. He was 82. He had a
long and excellent career in the theater, radio, TV and film.
He appeared many times on CBC radio and TV, in commercial
films and with the National Film Board, at on stage at the Stratford Shakespearean
Festival and also with most of the Canadian regional theatres in Montreal,
Winnipeg, Edmonton, Halifax, Toronto and Ottawa.
His best know films were Cinderella Man, Fly Away Home and
The Shipping News. He had more than 100 film and TV credits.
For two years he was the leading man at Ottawa's Town
Theatre where he was in A Shot In the dark, The Lion In Winter, Philadelphia,
Here I Come!, See How They Run, and others. He was a memorable Happy in Death
of Salesman with Budd Knapp. Audiences went crazy for his performance in Neil
Simon's The Odd Couple as Oscar with Hugh Webster. Those of us who worked with
him will miss him as an actor and a friend. A memorial service will be held for
Ken later. Ken was married to Jill De Wolfe. They have a daughter, Liza James
