Burt Nodella obit

Burt Nodella, Emmy-Winning Producer on 'Get Smart,' Dies at 91

He was not on the list.

He was in a relationship for more than a decade with Barbara Feldon, who played Agent 99 on the classic 1960s comedy.

Burt Nodella, who won back-to-back Emmy Awards for outstanding comedy series for producing the classic spy spoof Get Smart, died Feb. 23, his family announced. He was 91.

Nodella also produced several telefilms, including CBS’ The Phantom of Hollywood (1974), which starred Jack Cassidy as an enigmatic killer who stalks a dilapidated studio backlot about to be sold to developers.

Nodella produced 47 episodes of Get Smart (in seasons three and four), wrote a couple of installments and appeared as a KAOS doctor in another. The series took the top comedy series Emmy in 1968 and 1969.

Nodella lived with Barbara Feldon — who played Agent 99 opposite Don Adams on the show — from 1968 through 1979.

He spent his last years on his boat in Marina del Rey.

The Brooklyn native served under Gen. George S. Patton, survived conflicts at Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge and helped liberate the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, his family noted. He later attended UCLA.

Survivors include children Matthew and Carrie and grandchildren Oliver, Spencer and Lucas.
