Wilford "Bud" Baumes

November 24, 1939 - June 28, 2026

He was not on the list.

Wilford Lloyd “Bud” Baumes, of Cincinnati and formerly Santa Barbara, California, passed away peacefully on the morning of June 28th, 2026 at the age of 86. He was raised in Amberley Village by his late parents, Dr. Ogden Hayward “Bud” Baumes and Dorothy Hudson Baumes. Beloved brother to his late brother, John Ross Baumes; late brother and sister-in-law, Dr. H. “Hudson” (Myra) Baumes.

Affectionately known as “Uncle Bud” to his nephew, Lloyd “Ross” Baumes; niece, Lee Ann Baumes; great nieces and nephews, Hannah Baumes, Leo Baumes, Jack Baumes, Morgan (Taylor) Wilson, and Blake Petzelt; great-great nephew and niece, Crew and Romy Wilson.

Bud graduated from Walnut Hills High School. He completed his undergraduate degree at Dennison University and, later, earned a master’s in design from the University of California, Berkeley. Bud served in the U.S. Navy and built a fascinating career in the entertainment industry as a screenwriter and producer. Some of his accomplishments included the development of The Love Boat series and Wonder Woman.

His studies in design complimented his natural talents and incredible style. Throughout his years living in California, he created masterpiece homesteads which have been featured in Santa Barbara Magazine and Architectural Digest. His creative free spirit was perfectly complimented with his thoughtful and generous nature. Bud’s cocktail parties created lasting memories for his friends and family who he loved so deeply.

A private family gathering will take place at a later time at their family’s cherished home on Burt Lake in Northern Michigan. Private inurnment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Evendale.  Memorial contributions in Bud’s honor are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
