USSR boxing champion Igor Vysotsky died 

He was not on the list.


USSR boxing champion Igor Vysotsky has died at the age of 70, the press service of the Russian Boxing Federation reported.

– Great grief came to the family of Russian boxing: in the 70th year of his life, Igor Yakovlevich Vysotsky died.

Everyone loved and appreciated him. Vysotsky achieved great fame with two victories over the invincible before meetings with Cuban Vysotsky Teofilo Stevenson, three-time Olympic champion, boxing superstar of the 1970s and 80s. The second meeting turned out to be particularly brilliant, when the boxer Soviet knocked down the opponent twice and knocked him out in the third round.

Unfortunately, Vysotsky prematurely ended his sports career: at 27, having failed to qualify for the Moscow Olympics, he decided to hang up his gloves on a nail.

The team of the Russian Boxing Federation, the whole boxing family express their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Igor Vysotsky, the Telegram channel of the Russian Boxing Federation reports.

Vysotsky became one of three Soviet boxers who took part in the fight with American Muhammad Ali. In 1978 he became the champion of the USSR.
