Carol Locatell, ‘Friday the 13th Part V’ Favorite, Dies at 82
She was not on the list.
The one and only Carol Locatell has sadly passed away. Locatell is very well known to horror movie fans for her unforgettable performance in Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning. In the movie, she played Ethel, mother to Junior Hubbard (Ron Sloan). Locatell’s portrayal was a hit with fans, making Ethel among the most-quoted character of the Friday the 13th series.
On Facebook, Sloan announced that his movie mother has died. He also shared some of his memories of Locatell along with what he will miss about her, struggling with saying farewell to his longtime friend. His statement is below.
Dearest friends, fans, and Horror family,
With great sadness, it breaks my heart to announce that my
Friday the 13th Part 5 Mom, (Ethel Hubbard) Carol Locatell has passed away. She
had battled cancer for many years. For the longest time, I thought she kick
cancers ass, cause she really was a tough lady. I have shared more laughter
with Carol, then you could ever imagine.
Her interaction with her fans truly warmed my heart. Asking every single fan the question “Do you want me to flip you off, or what line would you like as an autographed on your picture?”
We were not only great friends, but we were family. Those of
us who are fortunate enough to be Actors in horror films, knows the meaning of
the Horror Family. This is truly a life experience for me and I am so proud to
have Carol Locatell share her private life with her husband, Greg, with my wife
Lisa.
From laughter to tears, I was truly blessed to work with
this wonderful, brilliant, actress / mom.
Her sailor mouth will truly be missed at the next convention.
Please say a prayer for her and her family.
She truly did love her fans, and we truly had so much fun
together meeting you.
Please feel free to post your pictures and memories of Carol to celebrate her life.
Other members of the Friday the 13th: Part V family are also
paying tribute. Deborah Voorhees also appeared in the film as fellow Roy Burns
victim Tina, though more recently, Voorhees reunited with Locatell and Sloan
for the film 13 Fanboy. Voorhees posted to her Facebook group the below
statement.
“A dear member of our horror family has [passed] away. Carol
Locatell has [passed] away after a long fight with cancer. She will be missed.
She was a true gem in our community. I am blessed to be have worked with her on
Friday the 13th and 13 Fanboy. God speed, Carol.”
Melanie Kinnaman, who played the film’s final girl Pam
Roberts, also offered the following remembrance.
“I was so very saddened to receive the news from home, that
our lovely friend and Friday Part V family member has left us. She was a joy to
know and to work with on the set. I was able to spend time with her at all the
conventions we did together in the recent years. She will be missed by all of
us. Fly with the Angels, Carol. We love you.”

Friends, The Daytrippers, Bug, The Family Stone, and The Way You Look Tonight.
