Phil Doran(1944-2023)
He was not on the list.
A native of Hammond, Indiana, Phil Doran earned a bachelors in Communications from Indiana University before moving to Los Angeles in 1966.
Phil got his big break writing jokes for Ratpacker Joey Bishop. With partner Doug Arango, Phil wrote and produced a number of iconic TV shows, including All in the Family, The Wonder Years, The Facts of Life, and Who's the Boss, receiving an Emmy nomination for his work on All in the Family.
Phil wrote episodes of Sister, Sister and the UK TV series The Upper Hand before moving to Tuscany to restore a 300 year old farmhouse with his wife, sculptress Nancy Fields.
Phil recorded his Italian adventures in the 2005 novel, The Reluctant Tuscan: How I Discovered My Inner Italian. Returning to Southern California, Phil wrote and produced Baby Boomer Blues, an original “coming-of-old-age” play for the Laguna Woods Theatre Guild.
Phil passed away on February 4, 2023 in Murrieta, CA at the age of 79.
