Dragan Tomić, one of the founders of the Socialist Party of Serbia and former president of the National Assembly, died today at the age of 86.
Dragan Tomić was born in 1936 in Priština, and he was educated in Belgrade, where he graduated from the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, reports Pink.
He built his career in "Rekord", where he reached the position of general director. After "Rekord", he got a job in "Jugopetrol" as the general director. He was elected president of the Union of Engineers and Technicians of Yugoslavia.
From the position of head of the SPS parliamentary group, he was elected the President of the National Assembly in 1994 and remained in that position until the October changes in 2000. He was acting President of the Republic of Serbia from July 23, 1997 to December 29, 1997.
