He is remembered for his appearance on soap operas such as Amor sin maquillaje, Barrera de amor, Barata de primavera, María Belén, El alma no tiene color and El niño que vino del mar, among others. Apparently, the actor took his own life.
Born on January 16, 1948 in Guadalajara Jalisco, in Mexico, Xavier Rivera Marc (his real name) studied acting at the School of Theater Arts of the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA) as well as at the Dimitrio Sarrás Studio at the Academy of Uta Hagen and Bergboff in New York. May he rest in peace.
“The National Association of Interpreters communicates the passing of interpreting partner Xavier Marc. Mexican actor, director and teacher, with extensive experience on television,” can be read in the statement shared by ANDI Mexico on social media. Some celebrities reacted to this news.
Actress Arlette Pacheco wrote: “A great actor and a wonderful person, may he rest in peace,” while actress Irina Areu, mother of Juan Carlos Casasola, expressed: “Rest in peace, sweet friend, I will always remember your smile and your charm.” For her part, director Karina Duprez said: “A lot of light on his way.”
Announcer Raúl Brindis shared the following information on his official Twitter account: “Mexican actor Xavier Marc dies at 74. His last performances were in Tenías que ser tú and La mexicana y el güero. The first reports indicate that the actor took his own life by jumping off the terrace of his apartment.
It is said that his relatives, without specifying whether it was his wife, Claudia Obregón, or his son Julio César, who found the actor’s body. Reporter Juan Carlos Alarcón said that “relatives, police officers and paramedics found a posthumous letter from actor Xavier Marc in which he expressed his intention to take his own life: ‘Maybe God will be with us, thank you.'”
In 1964, actor Xavier Marc made his debut on television in the telenovela Desencuentro, where he played the character of Ernesto. A large number of soap operas would follow, some of them include Mundo de juguete, Los ricos también lloran, Viviana y Más allá del puente. He is also remembered for appearing in Mujer, casos de la vida real.
He directed the 1991 film El mutilador and acted in Nadie te querrá como yo, Los renglones torcidos de Dios, El otro crimen and The legend of Zorro, along with Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Alfonso Mejía Silva, who played little Pedro in Los Olvidados, by Luis Buñuel, died at the end of December of natural causes in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. His youngest son, Alfonso Mejía Zueck, confirmed the death of the retired actor who is survived by his widow, Carmelita, 80 years old.
He is also survived by his daughters, Carlota and Victoria, as well as eight grandchildren: “He died today (yesterday) at noon, at home, next to my mother.
