Jim Beirne Has Died

He was not on the list.


He was a professional Football Player. He played the wider receiver position for the American Football League/National Football League's Houston Oilers and the National Football League's San Diego Chargers from 1968 to 1976. He played football collegiately at Purdue University and was drafted in the 4th Round of the 1968 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers. He went on to play for the Oilers for the next five years before he joined the San Diego Chargers in 1974. During his tenure with the Oilers, he earned AFL All-Star status in 1969 when he caught 42 passes for 540 yards and four touchdowns. He played for the Chargers for one season before he rejoined the Oilers for the 1975 season. He went on to play for the Oilers for the next two seasons before retiring from pro football. After retirement, he, along with his wife Jody, started Jim Beirne Custom Homes in the Houston, Texas area.

He later played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Oilers and San Diego Chargers.

Beirne lived in Fredericksburg, Texas.

His son, Kevin Beirne, was a Major League Baseball right-handed pitcher from 2000–2006.
