R. D. Reid is a Canadian actor known for his portrayal of Sergeant Purley Stebbins in the A&E TV original series, A Nero Wolfe Mystery (2001–2002), and the series pilot, The Golden Spiders: A Nero Wolfe Mystery (2000). He appeared in Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead, and George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead. His other film appearances include Capote (2005) Half Baked (1998), Lars and the Real Girl (2007). He also starred in the indie horror film Silent But Deadly.

Reid’s most recent film work had been principal parts in  “You Are Here”.” His other film appearances have included “Bloodsport,” “Searching for Bobby Fisher,” “Half Baked,” “History of Violence” and “Stuck.” 

He has also appeared in television movies for A&E, including “Thin Air” and “Small Vices,” and Showtime: “A Separate Peace” and “Dirty Pictures.” His other television credits span across several networks both in the United States and Canada, and include roles on “Sue Thomas F. B. Eye,” “Goosebumps,” “Twitch City,” “Jett Jackson,” “Little Men,” “The Adventures of Jules Verne” and “The Weight.” He played Santa Claus in the Hallmark Channel special The Night Before the Night Before Christmas.
