Star Wars Actor Jason Wingreen Dead at 95

He was not on the list.

Jason Wingreen, who starred in All In the Family and voiced the character of Boba Fett in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, has died at 95.

The prolific TV actor — who has more than 100 credits listed on IMDB — died on Christmas Day at his home in Los Angeles, his son, Ned, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on Friday, January 1.

Wingreen played Harry Snowden, the bartender in All In the Family and Archie Bunker’s Place, from 1976 to 1983. The Brooklyn, New York, native also appeared in three episodes of The Twilight Zone and Seinfeld.

His other TV roles included playing a Chicago police captain on The Untouchables, a major on 12 O’Clock High, a judge on Matlock and Dr. Linke in a Star Trek episode. He also appeared on six episodes each of The Fugitive, The FBI and Ironside.

On the big screen, he memorably played the role of a doctor from the Mayo Clinic in the 1980 comedy Airplane. He also starred in classic films such as The Bravados, A Guide for the Married Man, Marlowe, They Only Kill Their Masters, The Terminal Man and Oh, God! You Devil.

Before beginning an acting career, Wingreen served in World War II, later working with a marionette company. He also was one of the founders of the NYC-based Circle in the Square theater company and began his acting career on Broadway, starring in two 1954 shows — The Girl on the Via Flaminia and Fragile Fox.

He is survived by his son, two grandchildren and his sister.
