Stephen Hibbert Dies: Actor Who Played The Gimp In ‘Pulp Fiction’ Was 68
He was not on the list.
Stephen Hibbert, the actor who played The Gimp in Pulp Fiction and also appeared in Austin Powers and The Cat in the Hat, has died. He was 68.
The actor’s family revealed that he died Monday of a heart attack on in Denver, according to TMZ. “Our father, Stephen Hibbert, passed away unexpectedly this week,” they said in a statement.
“His life was full of love and dedication to the arts and
his family,” the family added, according to the outlet. “He will be dearly
missed by many.”
Born in Fleetwood, England, Hibbert got his start as a writer on Late Night with David Letterman from 1984-86, going on to write episodes of Darkwing Duck, Animaniacs, Mad TV and Boy Meets World.
Hibbert also co-wrote 1994’s It’s Pat: The Movie with then-wife Julia Sweeney, who originated the androgynous Saturday Night Live character.
As an actor, Hibbert was most known for playing The Gimp in
1994’s Pulp Fiction, also appearing in movies like Austin Powers: The Spy Who
Shagged Me (1999) and The Cat in the Hat (2003). He made his onscreen debut in
a 1987 episode of Newhart, before guest starring on shows like Just Shoot Me!,
Jericho, True Jackson VP and Dr. Ken.
