Joseph Bernard Kennedy Has Died
He was not on the list.
Joseph Bernard Kennedy, 81, passed away after a brief illness on the morning of November 21, 2023. He is preceded in death by his wife, Anne, who died just over a month ago.
Born in Liverpool, England, Joe came to this country eager to embrace the American experience, serving in the United States Navy, and then, the Army, and then working hard to build a successful life here. He met and married his beloved Anne and settled on Cape Cod where he became regional manager of Sales for the Sherwin Williams company. Joe then graduated from Framingham College, and then Harvard University, earning his degree in education. He honed his classroom skills at Cape Cod Tech where he thrived as a teacher and as union president for many years. Joe later returned to Sherwin Williams until his retirement.
While earthbound, Joe practiced kindness, laughed often, cheering up his many friends. He lit up rooms and was always grateful for the gift that was his life, and so, enriched the lives of all who knew him.
Outside of work, Joe travelled with his family, acted in community theater, sang a beautiful tenor, danced with grace, captained his "Liverpool Lu" through Cape waters, and reminisced about playing drums for the Searchers, alongside the not-yet-famous members of a group later known as the Beatles.
Joe loved his family without condition. He leaves his sons, Michael Kennedy of West Barnstable, and Joe Kennedy of Hyannis, along with his dear grandsons, Jasen and Jack. He also leaves many in-laws and nieces and nephews who will miss him very much. Joe has now been reunited with his beloved Anne, who has welcomed home her Joseph-,once again,-with love that is deep and abiding and joyous.
A celebration of Joe's life and a reception will be held on
Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 1pm-5pm at the Cape Codder, 1225 Iyannough
Road, Hyannis, Ma. In lieu of flowers, give to the charity of your choice.
