Soap Star Ann Flood Dead at 87

 

She was not on the list.

Daytime actress Ann Flood has died at the age of 87. The sad news was shared by her former THE EDGE OF NIGHT co-star and friend Sharon Rose Gabet (Raven) on Facebook. “With great sadness,” she wrote. “I found out yesterday that our dear Ann Flood passed away on Oct. 7. She now joins her husband of 61 years and the rest of my beloved castmates already in heaven. What a fabulous life she had and what a party they all must be having!”

Flood made her daytime debut playing journalist Liz Fraser Allen on the short-lived soap FROM THESE ROOTS from 1958-61. The actress then joined the cast of THE EDGE OF NIGHT in 1962 as Nancy Karr, and remained with the sudser through its transition from live to taped broadcasts as well as its move from CBS to ABC. When EON came to an end in 1984, she was its longest-serving cast member.

Flood then went on to appear in other daytime dramas during the ‘80s, including playing Ella Hobbs in SEARCH FOR TOMORROW, Rose Livingston in ANOTHER WORLD, Bitsy Davidson in ALL MY CHILDREN, Helen Guthrie on ONE LIFE TO LIVE, and Ruth Mansfield on AS THE WORLD TURNS. She also guest-starred in an episode of THE COSBY SHOW and played Polly Windsor in the 1988 film Mystic Pizza.

In 1952, Flood married former sportscaster and media/network executive Herb Granath, who passed away in November 2019. They are survived by their three sons and one daughter. Our thoughts are with Flood’s family and friends during this difficult time.
