Aaron Bruce Grattidge Has Died
He was not on the list.
Aaron Bruce Grattidge of Topeka died on August 12 after fighting daily with long-time illnesses.
Aaron graduated from Wellington High School with the Class of 1959. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arlo and Esther Grattidge, and brother, Virgil, all of Wellington. He is survived by his loving wife, Janice, his two sons, Brad and Brian and families, three step-children, Jeff, Jim, and Jenni Biggs and families, and his sister, Leila Grattidge Casey.
Aaron was married to his high school sweetheart Janice Bauersfeld, He lived life to its fullest with a focused career in music that sent him to the tops as one of the 4 Lads, a popular singing group in the 50’s and 60’s. Although Aaron was not one of the originals, his voice blended in with the distinctive sounds created by the original four and he enjoyed years of performances.
Aaron loved every aspect of the magical world of entertainment – the glamour and glitter were what ignited his personality and talent on stage. During his time between public appearances, he enjoyed being a disc jockey on a program called ‘Song of Oldies’ with a local radio station in Topeka. Aaron’s passing brings an end to the 4 Lads performing on stage. But their music will bring back memories of love and romance to many still today.
Those who knew Aaron can relate to his love of sports and being with family and friends. You might say that he “lived on stage’ as he could keep his audience in ‘stitches’ with his limitless jokes and stories.
No service is planned. The family wishes you to remember Aarron through the music he loved and the stories he told. The music of the 4 Lads will give us a smile as it is timeless in our hearts.
