Hillary Clinton's youngest brother, Tony Rodham, dies
"It’s hard to find words, my mind is flooded with memories of him today," Clinton wrote in a post on Saturday morning.
He was not on the list.
Tony Rodham, the youngest brother of Hillary Clinton, died Friday night, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee said in a tweet, calling him "kind" and "generous."
"It’s hard to find words, my mind is flooded with memories of him today," Clinton wrote in a post on Saturday morning. "When he walked into a room he’d light it up with laughter."
A cause of death is not known.
Rodham, born in 1954, was the youngest of three children, with Clinton, 71, and brother Hugh Rodham his older siblings.
He was married to Megan Madden, whom he wed in 2005 following a divorce from his first wife, Nicole Boxer. Rodham was the father to three children: Zachary Boxer Rodham, Simon Rodham and Fiona Rodham.
"He was kind, generous, & a wonderful husband to
Megan & father to Zach, Simon, & Fiona. We’ll miss him very much,"
Clinton tweeted.
Rodham had several jobs, including stints as a prison guard and private detective, according to the The New York Times. After Bill Clinton became president, Rodham became a consultant and a deal broker, the outlet reports.
Born in Chicago on August 8, 1954, Rodham was raised in a United Methodist family in suburban Park Ridge, Illinois. His father, Hugh Ellsworth Rodham (1911–1993), was of Welsh and English descent. He managed a successful small business in the textile industry. His mother, Dorothy Emma Howell (1919–2011), was a homemaker of English, Scottish, French Canadian, and Welsh descent. He was the younger brother of Hillary and Hugh.
Attending Maine South High School in Park Ridge, Rodham was known as what one writer later termed a "fun-loving jock" and was not as academically oriented as his sister had been.
Rodham subsequently attended Iowa Wesleyan College and the University of Arkansas, although he never received a degree from either school.
