Musician and Actor Ray Vasquez Has Died

Ray Vasquez started in the 40’s & 50’s big band, Jazz & Latin Jazz era from Watts, Los Angeles California. Ray Vasquez recorded his album “In the Still of the Night” with George Hernandez and Oliver Berliner in 1959 with a 14 piece orchestra on RCA VICTOR RECORDS. Ray Vasquez worked with Musicians Horace Heidt, Charlie Barnet, Bobby Sherwood, Perez Prado, Lennie Niehaus, Paul Lopez, Manny Lopez, Chico Sesma, Anthony Ortega (his cousin), Phil Carreón, Lionel Hampton, & Don Tosti. After the big band era, Ray Vasquez uses professional aka Ray Victor after graduating from the prestigious Pasadena Playhouse Theater. Ray Victor then proceeded to hit the Las Vegas strip where he worked at the Sands, the Tropicana, the Stardust, Dunes, Aladdin’s, and the Flamingo. Ray Victor worked in Lake Tahoe at Harrah’s in the South Shore Lounge and Harvey’s Resort hotel for four years. Ray Victor took his singing overseas to Japan, Hong Kong, the Philippine Islands, Guam, Okinowa, Hawaii, Curaçao, Venezuela, Jamaica, Cuba & Puerto Rico. He went even further in the 70’s to Australia and New Zealand working with big names like the Don Lane show, The club show, The Mike Walsh show, The David Hawks show and more. He had his own variety show with his wife Renee on Channel 7. Ray Victor came home to the United States and hosted the Latino talk show Pacesetters on KTLA channel 5. He then started his own production company and continued his career in theater, TV, commercials, and film until his retirement. Ray continued to sing, write, and MC. Ray was a member of Screen Actors Guild since 1956. Ray Vasquez Aka Ray Victor earned residuals until his very last days.
