Actor Richard Lynch dies at 76

He was not on the list.



Actor Richard Lynch, who employed his platinum hair and scarred face to play villainous characters in such films as “Bad Dreams” and “The Sword and the Sorcerer,” was found dead Tuesday at his home in Palm Springs, California He was 76.

Actress Carol Vogel, a friend of the actor, found Lynch.

His representative, Mike Baronas, said that “from what I currently understand, no investigation into the cause of his death will be made as his body was sent directly to a funeral home.”

Lynch appeared in dozens of horror and sci-fi films in a career spanning four decades. He played serial killer Michael Myers’ principal in director Rob Zombie’s “Halloween” remake in 2007, and he appears in Zombie’s upcoming film “The Lords of Salem.” Other movies featuring Lynch included “Scarecrow,” ”The Ninth Configuration,” ”Invasion U.S.A.” and “Little Nikita.”

On TV he appeared in series including “Battlestar Galactica,” ”The A-Team,” “Six Feet Under,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”

Lynch reportedly suffered scarring in 1967 after accidentally setting himself on fire.

Born in Brooklyn to parents from Ireland, Lynch serves in the Marines and trained at the Actors Studio.

Lynch was twice married. His son Christopher, from his marriage to first wife Beatrix, appeared with Lynch in the film “Trancers II” but died of pneumonia in 2005. He is survived by second wife Lily and his brother Barry Lynch, also an actor.
