We are saddened to share the news of Senior Pastor Sandra Elaine Crouch‘s passing. At 12 p.m. on March 17, 2024, Pastor Sandra embarked on her final journey, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. The news of Pastor Sandra’s passing was shared by Associate Pastor Kenneth J. Cook on the New Christ Memorial Church (San Fernando, CA) Facebook page.

Pastor Sandra was not just a religious leader; she was a pillar of strength, a guiding light, and a source of inspiration for countless individuals within and beyond our community. Her profound faith, unwavering dedication, and compassionate spirit touched lives in ways that words can scarcely express.

Born as the twin sister of the legendary gospel singer, composer, and songwriter Andrae Crouch, Pastor Sandra shared not only a familial bond but also a deep-seated passion for music and ministry. Together, they forged a path of devotion to God’s work, using their gifts to uplift and transform lives through the power of gospel music and preaching.

Throughout her tenure as Senior Pastor, Pastor Sandra exemplified the true essence of servant leadership. Her sermons were not mere words spoken from a pulpit but reflections of her genuine love for God and her unwavering commitment to spreading His message of love, grace, and redemption. She had a rare ability to connect with people from all walks of life, offering solace to the weary, hope to the downtrodden, and healing to the brokenhearted.

Crouch won a Grammy Award in 1984 for "Best Soul Gospel Performance, Female" for the 1983 album, "We Sing Praises," and was nominated for a Grammy in 1986 in the category "Best Soul Gospel Performance, Duo, Group, Chorus or Choir" (co-nominee Jean Johnson) for the song, Completely Yes from the 1985 album, "We're Waiting."  During the late 1960s through the early 1970s, she played the tambourine on a number of Motown recording sessions in Los Angeles, including the Jackson 5 hits "I Want You Back" and "ABC.

Details regarding Pastor Sandra’s memorial service are forthcoming. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Crouch and New Christ Memorial family.
