1982 Mr. Olympia Chris Dickerson dies at the age of 82.

1982 Mr. Olympia Chris Dickerson has passed away at the age of 82. The legendary bodybuilder suffered a massive heart attack last March 2020.

Chris also had to battle Covid-19 during this time.

According to reports, the cause of death was pneumonia. Chris was living in a rehab facility.

Chris Dickerson (Henri Christopher Dickerson) was born on August 25, 1939 in Montgomery, Alabama.

Chris’ bodybuilding career spanned from 1966 to 1994. In that time, Chris accomplished was the first African American to win the Mr. America title and he is the first openly gay person to win the Mr. Olympia.

Chris competed in various federations during his illustrious career. Dickerson started his bodybuilding career with the AAU, he then moved on to NABBA, PBBA, WBBG and finally the IFBB.

Chris achieved some incredible results during his long bodybuilding career. At the beginning of his career, he won the Mr. America and Mr. Universe titles. Chris’ best years were between 1980 and 1982.

Chris would dominate the majority of competitions to finally win the prestigious Mr. Olympia title in 1982.

During his life, Chris also modeled for some prestigious magazines. His 1970’s nude work for photographer Jim French is today considered some of the best photos ever taken.

Chris was very close to legendary bodybuilder Bill Pearl. Pearl helped Chris a lot during his career.

Dickerson was inducted to the Bodybuilding Hall of Fame in 2000.
