BJ Hogg obit

B.J. Hogg, Game of Thrones Actor and Give My Head Peace Star, Dies at 65

He was not on the list.

Hogg's agent, Geoff Stanton, confirmed his death to the BBC on Thursday.

"He was such a great man, a big personality and a terrific actor," Stanton said in a statement to the outlet. "His family must be devastated and my heart goes out to them."

"He was just one of the nicest people I know, or knew, he is going to be such a loss," Stanton added,

Stanton did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment. It was not immediately clear how the actor, who was also known for his role on the BBC Northern Ireland sitcom Give My Head Peace, died.

Hogg appeared in an episode of the first season of Game of Thrones as Lannister bannerman Addam Marbrand. But despite the HBO drama's popularity, Hogg was probably best known as a comedic actor.

He starred in Give My Head Peace as Big Mervyn from 1998 until 2020.

"He was a fine actor, great colleague and a true friend. Our thoughts are with his wife Elish, son Nathan and daughter Abigail at this time," said the team behind the series in a statement, according to RTE.

"BJ was a great comedy talent and a much-loved character in our long-running sitcom, Give My Head Peace," said BBC Northern Ireland director Peter Johnston, according to the BBC. "Many people will also remember his performance in the Oscar-nominated Dance, Lexie Dance. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad and difficult time."

Everybody associated with #GiveMyHeadPeace is shocked and heartbroken by the sudden passing of our dear friend and colleague BJ Hogg. We've lost a member of the family. Thanks for all the laughs BJ. https://t.co/XSA4fofKGZ
    — Tim Mc Garry (@Tim_Mc_Garry) April 30, 2020

Hogg's Give My Head Peace costar Tim McGarry shared with the outlet that Hogg's death is "heartbreaking."

"He was such a lovely guy," McGarry said. "BJ, as you probably know, was a big guy but he was a big softie as well and it is just so, so sad."

McGarry shared a tribute to Hogg on Twitter on Thursday, adding that his colleagues were "shocked" at their friend's death.

"Everybody associated with #GiveMyHeadPeace is shocked and heartbroken by the sudden passing of our dear friend and colleague BJ Hogg. We've lost a member of the family. Thanks for all the laughs BJ."

Hogg's additional credits include The Fall, The Woman in White, Hunger, City of Ember and several more.

Michael Keenan Dies: ‘Picket Fences’, ‘Dallas’ Actor Was 80

He was not on the list.

Michael Keenan, an actor who played Mayor Bill Pugen on CBS 1990s series Picket Fences and Baron van Swieten in the 1999 Broadway revival of Amadeus, died April 30 at the Motion Picture & Television Fund Country House and Hospital in Woodland Hills, CA from non-COVID natural causes.

His death was announced by his family and the USC School of Dramatic Arts, where Keenan was a faculty member for more than 25 years. A noted actor and director on the regional theater circuit, Keenan performed in more than 100 productions for theater companies including South Coast Repertory, Seattle Repertory Theatre, the San Diego Shakespeare Festival, and, in Los Angeles, the Ahmanson Theatre, the Mark Taper Forum and Taper, Too.

As a director, Keenan staged works at the Old Globe Theatre, The Pasadena Playhouse, the Asolo State Theatre, Occidental College, and L.A.’s Tiffany Theater.

His many TV credits include appearances on Starsky and Hutch, Alice, WKRP in Cincinnati, Hill St. Blues and St. Elsewhere, with recurring roles on Picket Fences, Dallas and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

A faculty member at USC’s School of Dramatic Arts, Keenan directed plays there from 1987 to 2015. “With his inimitable combination of technical brilliance, artistic perception, and dry wit, Michael Keenan inspired legions of students as a studio teacher and, perhaps most poignantly, as a stage director,” said David Bridel, dean of the USC School of Dramatic Arts. “He had a particular gift – based on his own illustrious acting career – in staging high comedies, including the works of authors such as Oscar Wilde and Georges Feydeau: fiendishly difficult to accomplish with students, but always impeccable in Michael’s seasoned and gifted hands. His kindness, wisdom, humility and loyalty will long be remembered among his colleagues and collaborators. He was, quite simply, a wonderful man.”

Keenan is survived by sisters-in-law Diana, Sally and Jan and eight nieces and nephews. Due to coronavirus restrictions, a memorial will be scheduled at a later date.

'Scrubs' Actor Sam Lloyd Dies at 56

He was not on the list.

Zach Braff paid tribute to Lloyd on Twitter, writing: "Rest In Peace to one of the funniest actors I’ve ever had the joy of working with. Sam Lloyd made me crack up and break character every single time we did a scene together."

Sam Lloyd, best known for his role as New Sacred Heart lawyer Ted Buckland on the long-running NBC-ABC medical comedy Scrubs, died Thursday night in Los Angeles, his rep, Kevin Turner, told The Hollywood Reporter. He was 56.

The Vermont native had been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor last year, which was revealed in a GoFundMe campaign launched by Scrubs producer Tom Hobert and his wife, Jill. The fundraiser has raised nearly $160,000.

In a family statement provided by his wife, Vanessa Lloyd, she wrote, "Sam passed away peacefully at 10:30 on April 30th, 2020 as a result of complications from lung cancer. Our family is devastated. It doesn't feel real. It never will. It just feels like he will walk through the door."

"The overwhelming outpouring of love and sharing your stories about working with or knowing Sam keeps his memory alive and our hearts strong," she continued. "Sam loved his work. I want to continue his legacy, and hope to share some of the beautiful songs he was working on for his musical and our son, Weston."

Scrubs star Zach Braff paid tribute to Lloyd on Twitter, writing: "Rest In Peace to one of the funniest actors I’ve ever had the joy of working with. Sam Lloyd made me crack up and break character every single time we did a scene together. He could not have been a kinder man. I will forever cherish the time I had with you, Sammy."

Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence also paid his respects on social media, tweeting: "Thinking a lot about Sam Lloyd today. (Ted). Truly such a kind, sweet guy. He will be missed by so many."

Aside from appearing on 95 episodes of Scrubs as Buckland, Lloyd reprised the role for another Lawrence series, Cougar Town. His other TV credits include Lawrence's Spin City, Seinfeld, Desperate Housewives, Shameless, Modern Family and Happy Together. As for film, he was in Galaxy Quest and Flubber.

Survivors include his wife and Weston, born in 2019.
