Legendary N.J. boxing manager Lou Duva dies at 94

Legendary boxing trainer and manager Lou Duva visits students at the Norman S. Weir school in Paterson in 2012.
Legendary Hall of Fame boxing manager and trainer Lou Duva died Wednesday at 94, according to his publicist, John Cirillo.
Duva died of natural causes at St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson after being admitted last week, according to his son, Dino Duva.
In a career that spanned seven decades, Duva handled the careers of 19 world champions, and most notably trained heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield, and welterweight champs Pernell Whitaker and Meldrick Taylor - all Olympic medalists. he also trained Hector "Macho" Camacho, Vinny Pazienza and Mark Breland.
Duva's first world champion was middleweight Joe Giardiello, who won the title in 1963.
Duva was born on May 28, 1922 in New York City to Italian immigrants, and the family later moved Paterson.
Viewing will be held at Festa Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St Mary's R.C. Church on Union Avenue in Paterson on Monday at 10 a.m.
