Maria Elizabeth (Betty) Buehler de Lutz, 90

HARWICH — Maria Elizabeth (Betty) Buehler de Lutz was born on December 10, 1921, in Oberachern, near Baden-Baden, Germany. She immigrated to the United States with her parents Sophie and Gustav Buehler in 1928, and lived in Fort Plain in the Mohawk Valley of upstate New York and later in Gloversville.

She went to Syracuse University for two years and then transferred to Ithaca College where she received a BFA. After graduating she moved to Manhattan and lived there for 20 years, working in radio, television and theater. She is a past member of Actors Equity, Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Radio and Television Artists. Before coming to the Cape she lived in Washingtonville and Goshen, NY.

She has lived on Cape Cod since 1983 and has been associated with the Guild of Harwich Artists, the Chatham Drama Guild, the Harwich Junior Theater, and the Harwich-Chatham Sight Loss Group.

She is survived by two sons, Christian and Jean Pierre de Lutz, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Donations may be made to Sight Loss Services (Dennis), Carrie A. Seaman Animal Shelter (aks CASAS, Provincetown) or the Animal Rescue League (Brewster).

She will be laid to rest with her parents in upstate New York.
