Paul Haddad, who portrayed Leon S. Kennedy in the original Resident Evil 2, has died aged 56.
The news was confirmed earlier today by developer Invader Studios, which had recently collaborated with Haddad on Daymare: 1998, a third-person survival horror game heavily inspired by the classic genre entries of the 90s.
In a statement posted to Twitter, Invader Studios wrote, "Paul Haddad, our dear friend and an icon among the RE community, has passed away recently.
"We've been truly honored to have the chance to meet and work with such a great man and a brilliant professional that he was. Rest in peace, Paul... you will live forever in our hearts."
Haddad started his acting career in the mid-1980s, appearing in a wide range of film and television productions over the years, beginning with detective series Night Heat and encompassing the likes of Tales from the Cryptkeeper, Free Willy, The Adventures of Tintin, MacGyver, and X-Men: The Animated Series.
Haddad performed in the Stratford Theatre Festival in Stratford, Ontario for two years. In the 1996 festival, he played Bassanio in The Merchant of Venice.
