Tracy Reed obit

English Actress Tracy Reed Has Died

She was not on the list.

Actress. Born Clare Tracy Compton Pelissier, the daughter of director Anthony Pelissier and actress Penelope Dudley-Ward, she was the granddaughter of actress Fay Compton, her parents divorced while she was a child. After her mother's remarriage to director Carol Reed, she took her stepfather's surname and broke into the film industry at the age of two with an uncredited part in Reed's "The Way Ahead" (1944). After finishing her schooling, she landed recurring roles in the British TV series "If the Crown Fits" (1961) and "A Man of the World" (1962 to 1963) and was introduced to international movie audiences playing Miss Scott, George C. Scott's (Buck Turgidson) mistress in the Stanley Kubrick film "Dr. Strangelove" (1964). She went on to appear opposite Peter Sellers in the second installment of the "Pink Panther" film series "A Shot in the Dark" (1964) and had a part in the 'James Bond' picture "Casino Royale" (1967). She may also be remembered for playing Karen Steele in the cult horror picture "Devils of Darkness" (1966). She remained active in the industry appearing in such programs as "The Avengers" and "Dr. Finlay's Bookcase" (1967 to 1969) until the mid-1970s, when she retired to raise her daughter. She was formerly married to actors Edward Fox, Neil Hallett and Bill Simpson and was the step-cousin of actor Oliver Reed. She died from liver cancer.

She is also shown as the centrefold "Miss Foreign Affairs" in the June 1962 copy of Playboy magazine being read by pilot Major T. J. "King" Kong (Slim Pickens) in the B-52. In the photo, she is lying down, apparently nude, with the January 1963 issue of Foreign Affairs – Vol. 41, No. 2, containing Henry Kissinger's suggestive article "Strains on the Alliance" – strategically draped across her buttocks.

Later in life, she worked as a gourmet foods company representative in Ireland, travelling the country to persuade shops to sell her employer's products. Reed died of liver cancer in County Cork, Ireland, on 2 May 2012, aged 69; her funeral was held there.
